From Azerbaijan with love

It is celebration time for city’s own writer K P Sudheera and family as they are gearing up to welcome the new Azerbaijani member to their family with Nirapara and Nilavilakku.

Amith Raghunath, the elder son of Sudheera and T M Raghunath, Retired Superintendent from the Provident Fund Office, will marry Pika at a simple ceremony to be held here on July 16.

For Amith and Pika it is fruition of their love, with the blessings of their families lying in two continents.

“I got a daughter in law who admires my writing and who loves Indian culture and tradition,” said an upbeat K P Sudheera. She shares her excitement of the union of two cultures belonging two different countries.

Amith and Pika, are both employees of Mantra Energy Vision FZC, an oil and gas supply business firm run by Sudheera’s brother Anoop Kumar and Sobin Abraham, in Dubai.

The bridegroom Amith, a 27-year-old MBA graduate is serving the company in a senior managerial post.

“We are colleagues in Mantra and my previous employer METPO. Pika has good knowledge about India and its culture and tradition and this might have led to our relation,” said Amith over phone from Dubai. The engagement ceremony was held in Azerbaijan on June 9 in the traditional Azerbaijan style. Twenty five year old Pika, elder daughter of an Azerbaijani professional couple, Vahid Eyunullayvev and Sadaqat, also holds Master Degree in Management.

“From my school time onwards, I got wind about India and its culture. I have read poems of Indian authors and Rabindranath Tagore is my favourite poet,” said Pika.

Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi and former President Abdul Kalam are the two prominent Indian personalities influenced her a lot.

‘Wings of Fire’, authored by Kalam have inspired me, added Pika.

Sudheera, who is the Manager at the North Malabar Gramin Bank, Regional Division, Kozhikode, is now busy arranging the function.

“She has already become a member of our family and she learned some Malayalam words such as Entha Cheyyuka, Ayyo, Amma and Sukhamalle,” said a laughing Sudheera.

Including Vahid Eyunullayvev and Sadaqat, four members from Pika’s family will attend the marriage function here.
