CPM politburo member Kodiyeri Balakrishnan said the fate of Ramesh Chennithala would have been the same as what happened to K Muralidharan, if he had accepted Oommen Chandy’s call for joining the Cabinet. He was speaking after the inauguration of ‘Rapakal Samaram’ organised by CPM District Committee at Kakkanad on Saturday.
According to Kodiyeri, Oommen Chandy was conspiring to eliminate Chennithala like they did to Muralidharan in the past. “Oommen Chandy cannot offer anything more than a Revenue Minister post to Chennithala. There is no provision for Deputy Chief Minister. Even if they constitute such a post, then it is just a dummy post. By bringing Chennithala into the cabinet, Oommen Chandy was trying to gain control over KPCC. But the Chief Minister’s attempts could not reach anywhere”, Kodeyeri said.
Kodiyeri stated that Oommen Chandy was bargaining over the Deputy Chief Minister post, by offering an additional seat in the Parliamentary election. “For the Deputy Chief Minister post, Oommen Chandy had offered an additional seat in Kasargod. A business tycoon would have contested as Independent candidate from Kasargod. But that plan also did not reach anywhere”, Kodiyeri said.
Kodiyeri Balakrishnan said that if Ramesh is dreaming about becoming Home Minister, his dream would never be realised. “Home Minister Thiruvanchoor possesses a pen-drive containing the video and written statement of Saritha naming the minister involved in the case. If the content in the pen-drive is revealed then the government would not last for more than 24 hours. Thiruvanchoor is using this to bargain with the Chief Minister. If Chennithala wants to become the Home Minister, he should get this pen-drive”, he said.
Kodiyeri also alleged that the Perumbavoor DySP who first interrogated Saritha knew the ministers involved in the case. The DySP must be interrogated by a judicial committee to know the exact truth, he said. The police and Special Investigation Team are not conducting proper investigation and the statement of Saritha is not given in the case diary, Kodiyeri pointed out.
Kodiyeri said that the Perumbavoor DySP should undergo a lie detection test. He added that the recorded details of Saritha Nair and other seized items were not made a part of the case diary.
“When Saritha was arrested she had conveyed all the details to the Perumbavoor DySP. Her laptop and pen-drive were captured by the police but these were not recorded in the case diary. Chandy is clinging to his position to erase evidence. If he quits, the next day he would be put behind the bars and the CM knows it”, Kodiyeri said.
