Bangladeshi girl rescued from sex racket

The police rescued a Bangladeshi girl who was forced into sex trade from here on Thursday. Two youth and a woman connected with the racket were also arrested. A rented house near Chattukulam temple, East Kadungalloor, was used as a star brothel. Police have arrested Rajani, 24, of Nedumangad, Jijo, 38, of Mundakayam and Shibin Mathew, 32, of Murinjapuzha. An SUV and a motor bike has also been seized.

The girl aged 19, a native of Bangladesh, was brought to India by an agent from Hyderabad on December 29 last year. She was presented to various people from Hyderabad, Mumbai and Kolkata, before she was sold to the gang in Guruvayur for `40,000. She was brought to the brothel by train.

The customers who wanted to contact her used electronic means like email. Once the deal was struck, the girl was mostly taken to the hotel of the customer’s choice. 

During the raid, police seized laptops and webcams supposedly used for marketing and the smooth functioning of the business.

When questioned, the victim said that the business was spread across Guruvayur, Kottayam, Thiruvananthapuram and Kovalam.

The police said that only after checking laptops, mobile numbers and memory cards that they could talk about the extent of the operations in Kerala. It has only been nine days since she was brought to Aluva, police added.

The raid was conducted based on a tip-off  given by Human Rights Protection workers in East Kadungalloor. CI Jayakrishnan led the  raid and rescue operations.
