The Board of Inquiry constituted by the Navy, to examine the allegations of sexual harassment levelled against its officers, has hit a roadblock.

Defence sources said, the woman who filed the complaint against officers including her husband, is desisting from appearing before the the Board of Inquiry.

“She did not appear for the hearing held in New Delhi on Monday. A Board of Inquiry headed by an officer of the rank of Commodore was constituted on a basis of complaint lodged by her. Now the complainant herself is not appearing before the board, despite several notices,” sources said.

“She has been citing reasons such as need to appear for examinations, threat to life etc. The venue of inquiry was shifted to Delhi, where she stationed now, after she informed inconvenience to attend hearing in Kochi.

The first hearing was scheduled  for last week of April, but she skipped it. Later, the hearing was shifted to Delhi as requested by  the complainant woman. However, she did not appear before the panel on Monday too. June 10 was fixed for hearing in Delhi as per the convenience of the complainant,” an official said.
