The JFCM -I court, Muttom, on Thursday adjourned the case pertaining to former CPM Idukki secretary M M Mani’s controversial ‘Manakkad speech’ to August 18.

The case was adjourned as Mani did not appear before the court, citing restrictions imposed by the Kerala High Court on his entry to Idukki district. Mani’s plea seeking lifting of the ban on his entry to the district is pending before the High Court.

Thodupuzha Police had registered a case against the CPM leader in connection with the controversial speech made by him at Manakkad near Thodupuzha in May last year.

The charges filed against Mani include criminal intimidation by exhorting people to take up violent methods to eliminate political rivals etc.
