The Shoranur police have arrested a person on charges of raping a girl. The arrested is Majeed, 33, son of Abdullah, of Vaniamkulam. The victim is the daughter of Majeed’s brother. As the parents of the girl were living abroad, she was staying at Majeed’s house with his wife and two children.
It was two months ago that the parents of the girl who had just completed her Plus-Two examination, came to know that their daughter was pregnant, the police said. According to the girl, she had been sexually exploited by Majeed for the last two years, said Anil Kumar, Subinspector of Shoranur police station. Majeed, who was produced in the Ottappalam First Class Judicial Magistrate Court on Friday, has been remanded in custody for 14 days.
