Amidst allegations that film personality Shalu Menon has links with Biju Radhakrishnan, the coaccused in the solar panel fraud case, Shalu’s mother, Kala Venugopal, has filed a complaint at the Changanasseri police station against Biju for alleged swindling.

In her complaint Kala alleged that Biju defrauded Rs 20 lakh off them, after offering that he would set up solar panels in their newly-built house and the dance school, Jaya Kerala Nritha Vidyalayam. Kala told mediapersons that she and Shalu got acquainted with Biju Radhakrishnan only around nine months ago and he gained their confidence quickly. “He was a frequent visitor to the dance school and became a close family friend within a short period. At that time our new house was being built, and he suggested that we set up a solar plant there,” she said.

Although Biju failed to set up the plant even after the construction work was over, Kala and Shalu did not venture to rake up the issue, taking in to account their good relationship. They decided to register a complaint only after the arrest of Saritha Nair. Kala added that Saritha Nair had earlier joined their school as a dance student, but discontinued the course after a couple of days. Police informed that Kala is yet to submit the cheque as evidence, but have registered a case against Biju based on the complaint.
