Trawling ban comes into force

No fishing boats other than traditional fishing craft should venture out to sea during the trawling ban period in the territorial waters of Kerala, Marine Enforcement and Vigilance SP said on Friday. The 47-day trawling ban, which will be on till July 31, came into force on Friday midnight. Legal action will be initiated against persons who violate the ban, the SP said. The Fisheries Director warned fishing craft from other states and countries not to operate in Kerala waters as long as the ban is in force.
