With the allocation for gender budget alone pegged at Rs 97,134 crore in the budget, the Social Justice Department is gearing up to fully leverage the opportunity for the benefit of the state.
Panchayats and Social Justice Minister M K Muneer said that his department would take steps to analyse the provisions available in the budget.
“In consultation with other departments, we would formulate departmental schemes which would be submitted to the Centre,” he said.
The budget has also allocated Rs 200 crore additionally for schemes for preventing discrimination against women and for bolstering their self esteem.
“The State Government has already draw n up the Nirbhaya scheme.
Several projects under Nirbhaya will be submitted to the Government of India for financial assistance,” Muneer said.
An amount of Rs 77,236 crore has been allocated towards children’s budget.
“The Department of Social Justice will formulate separate schemes under the Integrated Child Protection Scheme (ICPS), relevant to children in Kerala. The State Government would also seek Central assistance for various existing schemes such as ‘Thalolam’, ‘Sruthi Tharangam’, ‘Sneha Sparsham’ and the special scheme for people with disabilities,” the Minister said.
