When a Minister’s wife comes with a barrage of allegations and tries to expose him, a Chief Minister may not be able to neglect it that easily.
The charges levelled by Yamini Thankachi, wife of Forest-Cinema Minister K B Ganesh Kumar, even when it has not been presented in the written form, has left Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and the UDF in a piquant situation, as the ingredients have the potential to trigger an intense political fallout.
Yamini met Chandy and reportedly reeled out all instances connected with the alleged affair her husband was maintaining with a woman, who is also well-known to her. She had come across a ‘juicy’ SMS sent by the woman to Ganesh Kumar.
It was forwarded to the woman’s husband working in the Gulf. The infuriated husband rushed to the state and reached the Minister’s residence.
After showing the SMS to the Minister, the man manhandled the Minister,it is alleged. The man returned to the Gulf on the very next day itself.
“Yamini told that she was physically assaulted by the Minister after the incident. She told the Chief Minister that enough was enough and there is no question of leading a life further with Ganesh Kumar,” reliable sources said. A well-tutored Yamini had told the Chief Minister that she would proceed against Ganesh Kumar legally if justice in the form of an adequate compensation for her and two children is not ensured.
She also demanded protection for her and kids. Given the provisions of the Domestic Violence Act, Yamini’s stand has become the most influencing factor in the damage control attempt of the CM and the UDF. Yamini is in constant touch with her father-in-law R Balakrishna Pillai, who remains hell-bent in teaching his Minister son a lesson.
That the issue in question is potent enough to settle scores is given a rare dimension, leave whatever is lost in a family.
