Stating that the state is passing through a difficult time, KPCC president Ramesh Chennithala on Saturday said all parties, forgetting their differences, should work together to make the state self-sufficient and safe.
“Kerala is passing through a difficult time. There is no power nor potable water. Once, the state was sufficient in everything. It sold power to neighbouring states. Today we are buying power from them paying a higher price. Hadn’t rice been brought from Andhra Pradesh, we would not have had our meals. We have to work for a new self-sufficient Kerala,” said Chennithala during a reception given to him here.
The Kerala Yatra led by him came from Angamaly where he was given a warm welcome by the municipal chairman M T Jacob and other Congress party workers. The KPCC president was garlanded by Aluva and Nedumbassery Congress presidents Thoppil Abu and P Y Varghese.
