KPCC president Ramesh Chennithala has denied reports that he would meet Chief Minister Oommen Chandy to find a solution to the issues related to his entry into the ministry. “We will meet the CM on Tuesday to present him a vision document on the development of Kerala, compiled by the KPCC after Kerala Yatra. There will not be any discussions other than that,” he said refusing to attribute political significance to the meeting. Speaking to the media after the stone-laying function of the new DCC office here on Monday, Chennithala said that the vision document was prepared by P M Suresh Babu, development committee convener of the KPCC, compiling valid suggestions received during the Yatra. It will be submitted to the CM on Tuesday morning at the secretariat, he said. The KPCC president, however, did not oblige to questions related to his entry into the Oommen Chandy ministry. On the re-entry of K B Ganseh Kumar into the UDF ministry, he said that the issue would be taken up after discussions within the Congress. Chennithala asked the CPM state leadership to clarify whether it endorsed the moves by some of its district leaders in Ernakulam against the proposed international convention centre at Bolgatty, forcing the Lulu Group to back off. He termed it ‘unfortunate’, referring to the withdrawal of the Lulu Group from the project. “The Congress stands for bringing more investment to Kerala. On the contrary, the CPM is discouraging investments. The CPM leadership should explain their position on the issues that led the Lulu Group’s forced withdrawal,” he said. The land was handed over to the group during the previous LDF regime and there was nothing illegal about the transaction as far as we understand. The government should find a solution to the issue through dialogue, the KPCC president demanded. Speaking at the stonelaying ceremony of the DCC office here, the Chennithala claimed that the Congress in Kerala was stronger than ever before. “The CPM has lost its ideological and mass base. More than 70,000 cadre have quit the CPM, and the DYFI is also losing its ground. The CPM should realise that no party could operate behind an iron curtain for long,” he added. K Sudhakaran MP presided over the function. Minister K C Joseph, A P Abdullakutty MLA, Sunny Joseph MLA, District Congress Committee president K Surendran, P Ramakrishnan, V A Narayanan, P P Lakshmanan, Suma Balakrishnan, N Sumbrahmanian, A P Musthafa, Satheesan Pacheni, A Veluthambu and KPCC officebearers also attended the function.
