A special director board meeting of the SNDP Yogam held at Cherthala on Monday decided to launch an agitation against the Congress and Alappuzha DCC president A A Shukkoor. The meeting was presided over by SNDP Yogam general secretary Vellappally Natesan. The director board members have decided to lodge a complaint with Congress president Sonia Gandhi. The meeting passed a resolution severely criticising the functioning of the DCC president. According to the resolution, the DCC president has been trying to tarnish the image of the general secretary of the Yogam. The resolution said : ”Vellappally is the main driving force behind the evolution of the SNDP Yogam to the present form. The DCC president has been verbally attacking Vellappally at many public gatherings.” “The DCC president tried to include the general secretary in the Mattom Finance case. The DCC president has been attacking the SNDP with silent support of a faction within the Congress,” it stated. Members have also decided to give up the posts of board members and Corporation Chairman given to the SNDP leaders by the UDF Government. The members will hand over the resignation letter to the general secretary and he can take a final decision, the members said. The meeting decided to file a defamation case against the DCC president. The members said that Shukkoor is the only DCC president in the state who is targetting the SNDP Yogam. Yogam members have also warned that if the Congress fails to take action against the DCC leadership, the Congress will suffer in the coming Lok Sabha election. “If the government plans to allot Plus-two schools in the state, it should allot schools to SNDP Yogam and SN Trust, as it is a majority community which has gained very less in the education sector in the state,” the members observed. The board members applauded the efforts of Vellappally in initiating a movement against the political leadership’s neglect towards majority communities. “It created huge ripples in the politics of the state. But we should go ahead with the unity of majority communities and fight for their welfare,” they said. SNDP Yogam director board members M N Soman, Thushar Vellappally, K K Mahesan, P S N Baby, K V Sajan, P T Manmdhan and C M Lohithan attended the meeting.
