Opposition Leader V S Achuthanandan said here on Monday that the previous LDF Government had not done anything against rules in granting permission to the Lulu Mall in Kochi. He also said that the Lulu group had not encroached on any land for the construction of the mall.
Taking a different line from that of CPM Ernakualm district committee over the issue, he said there was nothing illegal in the Lulu Mall’s construction.
He added that the then Local Self-governance Minister Paloli Muhammed Kutty also had examined the matter before granting permission for construction of the mall.
Commenting on the CPM district committee’s allegation that the mall was constructed by encroaching on the adjoining canal, Achuthanandan said CPM district secretary Dinesh Mani had not found fault with any action by the LDF Government.
Asked to comment on NRI businessman and chairman of EMKE Group Yusuf Ali’s decision to withdraw from the Bolghatty project in protest against the CPM district leaders projecting him as an encroacher, he told mediapersons to ask Yusuf Ali about it.
“Let those who have raised the allegation understand their mistake. If they find anything wrong, let them organise an agitation,” he said.
