Balaji Chandrasekhar alias Sukkesh, a businessman who has been caught with actor Leena Maria Paul for fraudulent activities, reportedly has a case registered against him at Kalamassery police station also.
Leena was arrested from a South Delhi farmhouse on Tuesday during a Delhi and Chennai police joint operation. Her friend Balaji Chandrasekhar was also with her.
Both were allegedly hiding in a bid to evade law in a case of cheating registered in Chennai.
V K Sanalkumar, investigating officer of the Kalamassery case, said some Sekhar had collected `20 lakh from the management of a leading textile showroom in the city promising to arrange actor Katrina Kaif for a photoshoot and a function in Kochi.
In March last year, the Kalamassery police had registered a case for cheating based on a complaint by the showroom director.
Acting on a tipoff that he was in Goa, the police team had reached there, but all efforts were in vain, police said.
In the complaint, the textile shopowner had alleged that Sekhar had introduced himself as a relative of Union Minister Mallikarjun Kharge in a bid to win his trust.
