Coming down heavily on ‘’casteist organisations’’ for what he called their efforts to usurp political power and intervene in the internal matters of political parties, CPM state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan said they (casteist organisations) should refrain from such moves and should realise their limitations.

Inaugurating the concluding ceremony of the DYFI youth rally here on Monday, he asked such organisations to confine themselves to their job alone and not to poke nose into political process of the state. Pinarayi asked whether the NSS’ recommendation was needed for the KPCC president to get a seat to contest the election.

He criticised the UDF for encouraging the communal and casteist organisations.

Pinarayi clarified that the CPM would not toe the line of any such organisations and reminded the caste and community groups that they had no right or power to decide the MLAs and Ministers.

‘’If you have any problem with regard to your communities, you can present it in the public domain. But you should not think that you have the power to dictate terms to the political parties in deciding their policies,’’ he said.

Pinarayi criticised the NSS and the SNDP for their reported move to form Hindu League. Such moves would help widen the communal divide and strengthen the RSS. The Hindu unity would help only the RSS, the CPM state secretary said.

‘’Such moves would be regressive and would endanger the secularism in the country. We would block such efforts at any cost,’’ he said.

He said majority of the people belonging to both the majority and the minority communities are secular.

Any attempt to communally divide the people would endanger the future, he said.

He also criticised what he called the demigods who function using modern marketing techniques.

Pinarayi exhorted the party members to take up the issue of security of women.

He criticised the Chief Minister for rejecting the demand for a re- probe against Kurien in the Suryanelli case. The central leadership of the Congress party had also taken a negative stand on the issue, he said.
