The first generation Splendour was introduced in the country in the early 90s when Hero was in partnership with Honda. The bike was a huge success with strong sales figures.
Hero Moto Corp has yet again unveiled one more from the Splendour family - the all-new Splendor iSmart, which is provided with the i3s((idle stop and start system) which is the highlight of this new bike which is a first in the two-wheeler segment. i3s system is usually found in luxury cars. Though the bike comes with a fresh style, it is incorporated with a few similar designs that help us identify it as a Splendour. The graphics given to Splendour iSmart are quite unlike its competitors.
Tucked under its black visor is its instrument cluster with an analogue speedometer, fuel meter and odometer. The instrument cluster is also equipped with other warning lights and the i3S indicator. The bike comes with a clear lens headlight. iSmart has a good quality hand grip with switch gear, which includes the pass light flasher and a switch to turn off the i3s indicator.
The bike has a body-coloured split grab tail, a tail section which has a box shape and a stylish fuel tank. Splendor iSmart also sports 18-inch alloy wheels. The bike gets a maximum power of 7.7 bhp, which is generated at 7500 rpm and gets a peak torque of 0.82 kgm at 4500 rpm. It is powered with a 100 cc air-cooled 4-stroke single cylinder engine. The bike's i3s technology will lull the bike to suspension mode every time it is halted at a traffic signal; the system shuts the engine down. However, the rider will only have to engage the clutch to start the vehicle again. Splendor i has telescopic front forks, hydraulic rear shock absorbers and has a tubular steel frame.
 It is equipped with a 130 mm drum brake in the front and 110 drum brake in the rear. The bike also has a tubeless front and rear tyres. The Splendor iSmart was launched in Kozhikode city last week and comes in two models. The model with drum brake, self-start and cast wheel is priced at `49,515 and the model that comes with spokes wheel is priced at `48,497.
