With the Electronic Voting Machines (EVM) being shifted to strong rooms, the days  of anxiety have begun on Thursday.

The shifting of machines to strong rooms was completed by Thursday midnight. The machines will be kept under tight security until May 16, the counting day. There was heavy polling in the Ernakulam and Chalakudy constituencies. The Chalakudy constituency comprises four Assembly constituencies in Ernakulam district and three in Thrissur district. The strong room for keeping EVMs used in the Ernakulam constituency has been set up at the Maharajas College, where counting will also take place.

Counting of votes polled in the Chalakudy constituency will be conducted at two centres.  Votes polled in the Kaipamangalam, Chalakudy  and Kodungallur Assembly constituencies will be counted at the Bharata Mata College, Thrikkakkara.

Votes polled in the Kunnathunad, Aluva, Perumbavoor and Angamaly constituencies will be counted at the St Paul’s International School, Kalamassery.

100 Pc Polling At Ramanthuruth

There was 100 percent polling at the booth at Ramanthuruth, the smallest booth which has only 20 voters. Of the 20 voters, comprising 9 men and 11 women, 17 exercised their franchise before 4 pm itself.

The polling booth was set up in a makeshift shed. The officials deployed at Ramanthuruth consisted of a presiding  officer, two polling officers and two security officers.
