The State Police and National Investigation Agency (NIA) have favoured to continue the ban on Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) before a tribunal appointed by the Centre.
The tribunal headed by Justice Suresh Kait, assigned to review the ban, began its two-day sitting here on Wednesday.
It is learnt that the state presented several cases for establishing its stand, including the e-mail snooping case in which intelligence communication was leaked out by a Sub-Inspector who was later dismissed from service.
The case against a Students Islamic Movement of India activist in Kozhikode in September 2013 for publishing books to inflict communal hatred was also pointed out. The sitting is part of a country-wide exercise to review the ban.
