KOCHI: Actor Dileep filed a divorce petition for separating from his wife Manju Warrier before the Family Court here on Thursday. P Gopalakrishnan alias Dileep, 45, of Padmasarovaram, Kottarakadavil Road, Aluva, also requested the court to conduct ‘in-camera’ trial proceedings for restraining the details of the petition from being publicised in the media.

Dileep has filed for divorce under Section 13(1)(ia) of Hindu Marriage Act, 1955, which allows divorce in case the applicant faces cruelty from the spouse after the marriage is solemnised. In his petition, the actor stated that the media had been publishing reports for the past one year that Manju Warrier and he had separated and the petition for divorce would be filed.

“The matrimonial issues between Manju Warrier and myself are very personal in nature. There is no need for the public to know the details of our marital issues. If the details of our matrimonial issues are published, it will be highly embarrassing for us, our minor daughter, our family and all persons closely associated with us,” the actor stated.

After considering the petition, the Ernakulam Family Court gave an order preventing the publication of the content of allegations raised by Dileep against Manju Warrier. The court posted the case for further hearing on July 23.
