The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), as part of the preliminary inquiry before preparing the FIR in the data centre case, met Government Chief Whip P C George at Ernakulam Guest House here on Wednesday. CBI officials said that they met George only to gather some information, and added that his statement was not recorded.
“P C George had filed a public interest writ petition in High Court, seeking investigation into the role of the-then Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan, former director of the Kerala State IT Mission Retan Khelkar, former IT Secretary Ajay Kumar, T G Nandakumar and Mohan Sukumar in the awarding of tender for operating the State Data Centre (SDC) and three network operating centres under the State Information Infrastructure to Reliance Communications Ltd. So we met P C George only to gather the details available with him. He was here as part of some programme and the appointment to meet us was fixed over phone just a few days before,” the officials said.
CBI officials said that during the meeting P C George raised the allegation that the decision to grant tender to Reliance was taken by V S Achuthanandan.
CBI officials said that they would register an FIR in the case in the coming days. “The procedure for preparing the FIR is presently on. The preliminary inquiry in this regard is almost complete. The FIR would be registered soon with the CBI Special Court,” an official said.
