KSRTC Token Stir Called Off after Talks

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The token strike announced by the CITU-affiliated trade union of Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) on Saturday has been called off following discussions held with the management on Friday.

The government had declared dies non against those who would take part in the strike.

The strike was announced demanding settling the pension arrears of September and October, to stop the corruption related to the transfer of employees, to increase the wages of empanel employees, among other things.   “The issues raised by the trade unions will be addressed. In the case of pension maximum possible effort will be made to settle the arrears soon,” managing director and chairman of KSRTC Antony Chacko said.

The KSRTC plans to mobilise Rs 10 crore per month from the cess on tickets that will come into force soon.

According to sources, with the additional income generated through cess and with Rs 10 crore set apart every month from the revenue, the crisis-ridden KSRTC should    be able to meet the salary requirements and pension expenses.
