Paliyekkara Toll Rate Hiked

THRISSUR:  The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) hiked the charges at the Paliyekkara Toll Booth, here, on Tuesday. The revised rates came into effect from Tuesday midnight.

 As per the revised tariff, the heavy vehicles,including multi-axle vehicles, have to pay more to get through the toll plaza while comparing with the light vehicles.

The fee for light good vehicle, which was `105 for single trip and `165 return trip (within 24 hours), has been increased to `115 and `175, respectively.

For buses and trucks, the earlier fee of `210 per trip and `330 for return trip, have been increased to `235 and  `350, respectively. 

 Similarly, for heavy vehicles with multi axles (three to six axles), the fees for the single and double trips, have been hiked to  `375 and `565 from the previous charges of `355 and `530, respectively.  The rate of the monthly pass for the all categories of vehicles has also been increased in the same proportion.

According to NHAI officials, the annual revision of rates has been made in tune with the proportionate rise in overall price index of the country.

The NHAI’s agreement with the company, Guruvayur Infrastructure Private Limited - a joint venture company responsible for toll collection and road maintenance on the Mannuthi-Edapally stretch of the National Highway 47, also stipulates annual upward revision of toll rates based on the price index.

The revised rate, which was to come into effect on September 1, was later put on hold. in view of the Onam season.
