KASARGOD: Army jawan Haridas, 32, a native of Kasargod, who was feared missing in Kashmir floods for the past five days, called his wife on Wednesday. Haridas, a Lance Naik and attached to No. 1 Rashtriya Riffles E Company, told his wife Jyoti Lakshmi that he is safe.
Later in the day he called her thrice and told not to worry. “We are back with the rescue team and evacuating those stranded,” he told his wife.
Last Friday, Haridas telephoned his wife to tell that his camp in Anantnag was washed away in floods, but he along with 20 of his colleagues managed to swim to safety. He had told her that they were taking shelter in an abandoned house in a hilly area with very little food provision and water.
Haridas is a native of Bandadukka in Kasargod.
