KASARGOD: The political discourse in the state hit a new low, with CPM leader M V Jayarajan calling the chief minister the ‘ultimate stinker’ here on Wednesday.

Later, when his speech became controversial, he told a news channel that he was sorry if his words hurt anyone. “I was only criticising a corrupt Chief Minister,” he said.  At a martyr’s memorial meet at Uduma in Kasargod, the CPM state committee member said Kerala had not seen such an anti-people, inept chief minister in the past five-and-a-half decades. “If I call him a stinker, you will get angry with me; he is the ultimate stinker,” Jayarajan said, amid applause and whistling. Compared to Chandy)... even ‘betrayer’ (K) Karunakaran was a gentleman,” said the Kannur-based leader. To stress his contempt for Chandy, he said he was ready to go to jail for life over his choice of words.

Opposition leader V S Achuthanandan said he would react after ‘studying’ the criticism.

This is not the first time Jayarajan is landing in trouble. On July 1, 2010, he called a high court judge ‘an idiot’ for banning  roadside political shows.

The court took suo motu case against the leader and sentenced him to undergo rigorous imprisonment for six months on November 8, 2011. He was granted bail by the Supreme Court after eight days. The party workers had lined up on both sides of the road and cheered him when he went to prison and when he walked out.

Sudheeran Flays Remark against Chandy

T’Puram: KPCC president V M Sudheeran flayed CPM leader M V Jayarajan’s foul speak against Chief Minister Oommen Chandy on Wednesday, terming the ‘stinker’ usage as extremely derogatory which no decent person would ever use against anyone.  He demanded that the CPM leader should correct himself at the earliest by withdrawing the remarks and tender an apology to the Chief Minister and the people. ‘’As the statement would create a very bad impression on  a responsible party like the CPM, the leadership should take stringent action against Jayarajan for the usage,’’ Sudheeran said, while taking strong exception to the ‘’rotten’’ remark.
