KANNUR:  Education Minister P K Abdu Rabb has become a slave of the mafia that controls the education sector in the state, SFI national president Dr V Sivadasan has alleged.

Taking a jibe at the minister, Sivadasan said on Wednesday that the name ‘Abdu Rabb’ originally meant a slave of God. But the minister had actually become a slave of the devils that controlled the education sector in the state. “For Muslims, this is the holy month of fasting to be observed with religious fervour and piety. But for the UDF, these are hectic days of looting the education sector,” Sivadasan alleged at a press meet here.

The SFI president said that the education sector had become a free playing ground for religious and caste groups. The government had allowed the managements to fill 650 medical seats that should have been filled from the merit list. It should be doubted that the managements might have struck a deal of many crores with the UDF for that, he said. The SFI also demanded a comprehensive inquiry into the corruption behind it. The SFI leader sharply criticised SNDP leader Vellappally Natesan for exhorting LP school students in Alappuzha to organise on caste lines.

He also wondered why the government did not initiate action against Vellappally while a headmistress of Thiruvananthapuram was instantly transferred for trying to correct the Education Minister, Sivadasan said.
