Tribute to Malayalam Film Music Masters

KOTTAYAM:The second edition of Rakendu, a musical tribute to great masters of Malayalam film music, will be staged at CMS College from April 9 to 12. Announcing the programme at a press conference here, Minister for Cinema Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan said this year’s programme will be conducted in an extensive and different manner.

The program, being organised jointly by Kerala Chalachitra Academy, C K Jeevan Trust, Kottayam and CMS College, will offer tribute to P Bhaskaran and Yusufali Kecheri.

The 75th birthday celebrations of filmmaker Sreekumaran Thampi and K J Jesudas will also be conducted as part of the programme. Sreekumaran Thampi will inaugurate the musical carnival at 5 pm on April 9.

Music director Jerry Amaldev will inaugurate the commemoration of P Bhaskaran. Poet Alankodu Leelakrishnan will deliver the commemoration speech on the occasion.

Minister for Culture K C Joseph will inaugurate Yusufali Kecheri commemoration on April 10 and critic E Jayakrishnan will deliver commemoration speech. Writer K R Meera will be honoured on the occasion. Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan will inaugurate the birthday celebrations of Sreekumaran Thampi on April 11.

Kalaratna artist Sujathan will be felicitated in the function. Scenarist John Paul will deliver the keynote address.

CPM polit bureau member M A Baby will inaugurate the birthday celebrations of K J Jesudas on April 12. M G University Vice-Chancellor Babu Sebastian will be the chief guest of the programme. Critic Ravi Menon will deliver the keynote address.

Singer V T Murali, Chengannur Sreekumar, Leela Joseph, Rahul Laxman, Suresh Manimala, Arun, Reena Murali, Devadas, Anoop Menon, P C Joji and Jyothi Menon will participate in the musical programme being conducted on various days.

Chalachitra Academy vice-chairman Joshy Mathew, Dijo Kappen, and Kurian Thomas also participated in the press meet.
