BJP Activist Dies in Kannur Violence

KANNUR: The BJP activist who suffered serious head injuries in the stone-pelting by alleged CPM activists on December 1 and who had been undergoing treatment at a hospital in Mangalore, died on Saturday. K K Rajan, 52, of Upper Cheekkad, Koonthaloor, Udayagiri, suffered injuries as alleged CPM functionaries pelted stones at the jeep in which he was returning home after attending the Janasakthi rally organised by the BJP in Payyanur on the ‘balidan day’ of K T Jayakrishnan Master.

Rajan and a few other BJP activists suffered injuries in the incident at Madakkad near Taliparamba. He was initially admitted to Pariyaram Medical College and later shifted to Mangalore hospital as his condition turned worse. The Taliparamba police had registered a case against 15 CPM activists in connection with the stone-pelting incident. BJP observed a hartal in Irikkur constituency and Chapparappadavu panchayat on Saturday.
