THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:Rich tributes and remembrances came flowing at the 46th death anniversary of Congress leader and former Thiru-Kochi Chief Minister C Kesavan, which was held at Indira Bhavan, the KPCC headquarters here on Tuesday.
Inaugurating the commemoration meet, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said that for the democratic sense, humanism and bold principles of C Kesavan, he always stood as a role model for public men.
“He aired his opinion candidly on a given issue, even if there were protests and controversies around. He never compromised with his convictions,” he said and added that he had ventured into public life when none dreamed about power politics. “He never went after power but power followed him. His struggle for proportionate reservation stands out as a historical saga for ensuring social justice. His famous Kozhenchery speech questioned the social inequalities prevalent during his lifetime,” he noted.
Presiding over the function, KPCC president V M Sudheeran said that C Kesavan was an epitome of selflessness, fearlessness and principles in public life.
