KOCHI:With multilingual film ‘Bahubali’ opening to a massive response across the country, many of the theatres in Kerala that had joined the strike called by the Kerala Film Exhibitors’ Federation (KFEF) backed off from the stir by the end of the day.

Bahubali was facing release problems in Kerala after KFEF, an association of A-class theatres, decided to shut down around 70 theatres demanding speedy investigation into the piracy case involving Malayalam film ‘Premam’.

The other associations, such as the Film Distributors Association (Kerala), said  the strike called by the KFEF was a ploy to sabotage the ‘wide release’ of Bahubali in the State.   “We do not understand why the KFEF is campaigning for this particular film, when there had case of piracy earlier. Bahubali has been released in nearly 100 theatres, including multiplexes.    Not only is there a massive response to the film, but also we are getting very good reports about it,” said Film Distributors Association (Kerala) president Siyad Kokker.
