KU Arts Festival to Begin in Kollam from Tomorrow

KOLLAM:The youth festival of Kerala University will begin here on Monday. The five-day arts festival will see the participation of 8,000 students from 300 colleges affiliated to the university. Seven colleges in the district would host the competition with the SN College here hosting the main stage.

Other colleges hosting the event are: SN Women’s College, Vellappally Natesan Shashtiabdapoorthi Smaraka College of Nursing, Fatima Matha National College, TKM College of Engineering, Karicode, Carmela Rani Training College etc. 10 stages have been arranged for the purpose in these colleges. The organisers said that the arrangements for the online registrations have been completed. There are facilities for spot registration.

On Sunday, a students rally would be held in the city and students from various colleges are expected to participate. The rally will begin from the Chinnakkada underpass and move to the SN college ground after taking the overbridge near the Police Commissioner’s office.

The fest would begin with the Vice-Chancellor of the Kerala University hoisting the flag. The public meet would be held at the same venue at 5 pm.

On the first day, competitions for Thiruvathira and Kathakali would be held at SN college and SN College for Women respectively.

The concluding ceremony on March 20 will have the presence of film stars. Actor Madhu would inaugurate the closing ceremony.

Aashiq Abu, Rima Kallingal and Sunny Wayne would participate. The organisers said that there would be an open forum on each day with the participation of a famous personality.
