THRISSUR: In the case of death, presumed to be suicide, of four members of a family based in Kolazhy in their London apartment, on Wednesday fresh information has come to light that the deceased Shigi, 38, had sent a text message to her close friend a few days before her death.

The message in Malayalam read: “I am ending everything here.”  “The friend initially presumed that the message meant that Shigi was leaving the UK and returning home. She was always nostalgic about homeland. The recent events put the message in a different perspective. We have no idea how such an incident occurred. Shigi was a very bright and sociable person,” another family friend said. The phone and other possessions are in the hands of the London police.

Family members and friends refuted reports that the family was under financial duress of having a house under construction in Thrissur. “Money was not an issue for them,” said K K Sudheer, Shigi’s cousin.  Shigi passed her Masters degree in Social Work with very high marks and was employed first in Vadakkanchery and then moved on to London.

Shiji, husband Ratheesh, and their twin daughters Neha and Niya were found dead in their apartment.
