ATTINGAL: KTCT English Medium Higher Secondary School of Kaduvayil near Kallambalam has been a familiar name in the ‘Vattappattu’ competition for HSS section of the Revenue district School Arts Festival as the school has been winning first in the festivals and representing the capital district in the state school kalolsavam.
However, for the last four years the team from the school hadc not participated in the Oppana competition, though it had won first in the last time it contested.
This year, the school had staged a comeback in the Oppana competition section and had secured the ‘entry ticket’ to the State Schools arts fete.
According to the school authorities, the school has made this comeback with a group of freshers who had never participated in a Oppana competition in the district youth fete. A total of ten students, include three singers, were in the school Oppana team which won the competition.
‘’We had participated at the state Kalolsavam on at leas three occasions. We are hoping to perform well at the state level also,’’ said the teachers, who accompanied the team. The team members included Sreerekha Krishna, Sreelekha Krishna, Ashna Askar who sang the oppana song and Saranya, Noora, Jancy, Jisha, Abina, Ameena A and Fathima Anzad who performed the oppana.
‘’They have started the training from June itself. The team was formed after the admission of the Plus I students. They had taken good effort and had practised for hours in the school. Now they have proved that it was not in vain. They will start practice for the state kalolsavam soon,’’ said Sumesh M, teacher with KTCT school.
Muneer Thalassery was the dance trainer. ‘’I have been training them for the last 12 years. They were performing well from the practice section and I am happy that they could maintain the performance on stage also,’’ he said.
He was the trainer of the Vattapattu team of the same school, which have already won the first prize in the same fete.
