Miscreants Pelt Stones at Actor Asif Ali's House

IDUKKI: The house of film actor Asif Ali in Thodupuzha was attacked by a group of unidentified miscreants in the wee hours of Tuesday. A group of people who came on bikes entered the residence compound and pelted stones at the actor’s house at Undaplavu here. The upstair window glasses were damaged in the attack. 

Asif was not at home when the incident occurred. His brother Asgar Ali and a friend, who were there at the residence, came out hearing the sound, but the miscreants managed to flee.

The actor’s father Shoukath Ali, who is CPM Muthalakodam local secretary, was at St Mary’s Hospital where Asif’s mother Molly is undergoing treatment. Asif was also at the hospital till around 9 pm before leaving for Ernakulam.

On getting information, Shoukath along with some CPM leaders rushed to the house. Later in the morning, Thodupuzha Police and finger print experts inspected the spot. He said that political vendetta was behind the attack.

Undaplavu has been witnessing tension between the CPM and the Muslim League. T K Anil Kumar, a Muslim League councillor, was attacked during a ward-level meeting on Sunday by CPM activists, following which four CPM men were booked.

A protest meet was held by the UDF in this regard at Undaplavu on Monday evening. It was hours after that Shoukath’s house was attacked.

CPM district secretary K K Jayachandran MLA, who visited the house, said the miscreants who attacked the house should be arrested on the charges of house breaking.

He alleged that in connection with verbal duel during the ward-level meet, the police have booked the CPM members for murder attempt on the directives of the Muslim League.
