THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Ahead of the Nava Kerala Yatra, the CPM politburo member Pinarayi Vijayan on Thursday said the party remained the lone choice for people in the coming Assembly elections as the UDF has pushed state into anarchy in the last four years or so.

In an article, Pinarayi said administration has come to a standstill in Kerala in the last four years or so under the UDF. “The Kerala Development Model has been gradullay going into oblivion. That’s why CPM is launching its campaign with the motto - secular-corruption free-developed Kerala.”

Pinarayi also pointed out that the UDF government has been following similar economic policies pursued by the Modi government at the Centre. “It’s expected that the state will have a public debt of `1,59,523 crore by the end of this fiscal. Of the 40 projects with an expected expenditure of above `5 crore, announced in the 2013-14 budget, only 13 were implemented.”

“The administrators themselves are supporting attempts to sabotage Kerala’s secular tradition and create communal divide among the people. The SNDP leadership floating a political party and the government leadership including the CM compromising is part of an attempt to hurt Kerala’s secular mindset. Only CPM can resist this attempt,” he said. Pinarayi said as many as 2213 farmers have committed suicide in the first year of the Modi government at the Centre.

“The price of rubber and coconut have gone down. Corruption cases are also coming up. If the second UPA government had gone down due to corruption, the BJP government is trying to set new records in corruption,” he said.

No Politics Behind Lavalin Case, SAYS UDF Convenor

It is all about court proceedings,” he said. “We expect V S Achuthanandan will not change his earlier views in the Lavalin case now,” Thankachan hit out. Congress leader M M Hassan said promises left out in the earlier election manifesto of UDF would be listed with corrections in the latest document ahead of the 2016 Assembly polls. “The UDF needs no study congress like CPM, since we have proved ourselves that we are not talking and delivering on development in the state with an eye on polls,” Hassan said. Thankacan said legal formalities needed to be completed for the return of Mani into Cabinet.
