Land deal: Vigilance Court orders probe against former Revenue Minister Adoor Prakash, Kunhalikutty

KOCHI: The Vigilance Court, Muvattupuzha, on Saturday ordered Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB) to register case and start probe against former  Revenue Minister Adoor Prakash, Industries Minister P K Kunhalikutty and three others for exempting 112 acres of land to a business firm owned by controversial godman Santhosh Madhavan.T.

The court had ordered VACB to conduct quick verification after social activist filed complaint  in March this year. Even though the VACB had given clean chit to the minister, but the court pointed out  irregularities in the report and ordered VACB to register case and proceed with the investigation two minister, godman Santhosh Madhavan and three others.

As per the complaint of social activist Girish Babu, there was high level corruption behind the UDF government order dated March 2, 2016, exempting 95.44 acres of land in the Puthenvelikkara panchayat in Paravur and 32.41 acres of land at Madathumpadi in Kodungallur taluk, a majority of which is paddy field.

The exemption was given to RMZ Eco World Infrastructure Pvt Ltd for setting up a Hi-tech IT Park, subject to certain conditions. As per the order, the deal was exempted from the land ceiling limit under Section-81(3) of the Kerala Land Reforms Act. Following the reports on high-level corruption, UDF government withdrew it later.  ends
