CPM, CPI unveil ministers list for the new LDF government

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: THE CPM and CPI announced its list of ministers in the Pinarayi Cabinet on Monday. The CPM state committee, presided over by Vaikom Viswan, approved the list of 11 ministers proposed by the state secretariat on Sunday.  The names of CPM Central Committee members T M Thomas Isaac, E P Jayarajan, A K Balan, K K Shaylaja, state secretariat member T P Ramakrishnan, state committee members G Sudhakaran, Kadakampally Surendran, A C Moideen, J Mercykutty Amma, Puthukad area committee member professor C Raveendranath and party Independent K T Jaleel were declared.

All-new look in CPI list

Giving opportunity to new faces, the CPI has chosen freshers as its ministers. Kanhangad MLA E Chandrasekharan, Thrissur MLA V S Sunil Kumar, Cherthala MLA P Thilothaman and Punalur MLA K Raju have been chosen as party’s ministers. The decision was taken at the party state executive meeting on Monday. The panel proposed by the state leadership pointed out that in 2006 also, the party had selected youngsters as ministers. E Chandarsekharan will be CPI’s parliamentary party leader. He was elected at the parliamentary party meeting held under state chief Kanam Rajendran. V S Sunil Kumar has been made the deputy leader while Chittayam Gopakumar will be the secretary. E S Bijimol has been selected as the party whip.

Swearing-in ceremony at 4 pm tomorrow

T’Puram: The swearing-in ceremony of the  Pinarayi Vijayan-led Cabinet will be held at  4 pm on Wednesday. The Chief Secretary will receive the chief minister-designate and his team members who arrive at the Central Stadium, the venue of the swearing-in ceremony, at 3.50 pm. Following that, the band team will play the national anthem. At 3.55 pm, Governor P Sathasivam will arrive. With the permission of the Governor, the Chief Secretary will invite the Chief Minister-designate for the swearing-in. All the invites for the function should reach the venue before 3.30 pm.

CPM state committee member and Ponnani MLA P Sreeramakrishnan has been announced as the new Speaker. CPI district council member and Chirayinkeezh MLA V Sasi will be the Deputy Speaker.

Portfolios

Though the portfolios of ministers were not announced, it’s learnt that the Home and Vigilance portfolios will be handled by the Chief Minister himself. The portfolios will be finalised by the LDF on Wednesday. It’s almost confirmed that T M Thomas Isaac will be the new Finance Minister.

Saseendran is NCP min

T’Puram: A K Saseendran, who has been elected from Elathur, will be the Nationalist Congress Party(NCP) nominee in the Pinarayi Vijayan Cabinet. The official announcement will be made by noon on Tuesday.
