Kerala MLA gets 3 months jail for threatening cops

KANNUR: A Kerala MLA, A N Shamseer has been awarded three months imprisonment for threatening policemen during a protest march organised by the Students Federation of India [SFI] in 2012 in Kannur.

The first class judicial magistrate's court also imposed a fine of Rs 2,000 on Shamseer, the MLA for Thalassery.

The case relates to a threat Shamseer made to policemen if they attacked SFI activists during a march. Sub-inspector Sanal Kumar of Kannur registered a case against Shamseer after the incident.

After the verdict, Shamseer told reporters he would file an appeal against the order.
