KOZHIKODE: Dr Sherly Vasu, who conducted postmortem on Soumya, said “there was enough evidence to prove that Govindachamy had pushed Soumya out of the train and six continuous smashes on Soumya’s head by Govindachamy was the cause of her death.”

Reacting to the Supreme Court’s observation in the Soumya murder case, Dr Sherly Vasu on Friday told ‘Express’ that the type of injuries found on her body clearly establishes that she did not jump herself off the train. “Anyone who goes through my deposition submitted before the Kerala High Court can clearly understand this,” she said.

“As World Health Organization defines it, ‘cause of death’ is the disease or injury which initiated the train of morbid events leading directly to death. Govindachamy inflicted the traumatic brain injury on Soumya which later led to her death; this itself suffice to prove that he murdered Soumya,” she explained. “The prosecution team and police officers who had earlier led the investigation were not called in for the hearing at Supreme Court,” she added.
