ISRO Space Pavilion at IIM-K

KOZHIKODE: ISRO is organising a pavilion ‘The India in Space Gallery’ at Indian Institute of Management, Kozhikode, the first-of-its-kind in the Malabar region. It is a joint venture by VSSC(Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre) and IIMK. The pavilion is build in an area of 1,000 sqft and  it will be open to public from February 16. The project is done with an investment of `50 lakh.

“This is a part of the outreach activities of VSSC, that we are starting a project to give awareness about the activities and space missions of VSSC and ISRO,” said VSSC TTDG Group head Vijayamohanakumar S R.  A business management school taking the initiative in science and space mission is the interesting  factor of this initiative.

“This is the first time a reputed management school in the state took the initiative to start a project on space gallery focusing on the people of Malabar region. We had similar set ups in Ernakulam and Thiruvananthapuram, but those were jointly done with science and technology institutions like CUSAT. Compared to those spaces , this gallery is vast and different ,” said VSSC TTDG Head.

“ISRO and VSSC have played a major role in the development of business in the country through brilliant ventures like remote sensing satellites, ATM banking and stock exchanges. However, the majority people in Malabar are unaware about their role so we decided to create a project on it. When we showed interest, ISRO readily agreed to be a part of the project. Now IIM-K and VSSC hold equal share in expanding the pavilion,” said IIM-K professor Dr M G Sreekumar.”
