THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Hinting the Revenue Department will continue with its tirade against encroachments in Munnar, CPI state chief Kanam Rajendran has asked Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan to restrict those who come out against LDF stand on the Munnar issue.
Speaking after the CPI state executive, Kanam reiterated the LDF’s strong stand against illegal encroachers in Munnar. The Chief Minister should restrain those who come out against this stance, said Kanam on Thursday.
Responding to questions, Kanam said the recent developments in this regard have been brought to the Chief Minister’s attention.
“The LDF has decided to take strong action against encroachments. Pinarayi has made the LDF stand clear in the Assembly and at the officers’ conference.
The Revenue Minister too has stated the government’s stand in the matter. It is for the Chief Minister to control those who speak against the LDF stance,” he said. Putting the onus on Pinarayi, Kanam said the opposition raised by a minister, an MLA and his partymen should be resolved by the Chief Minister himself.
“There is no soft approach in evicting encroachers. There is no difference of opinion between the CPM and CPI over eviction in Munnar,” Kanam said.
