No move to sack KPCC chief Parameshwar, says Divijay Singh

Digvijay Singh said there were no differences within the party and clarified that there is no move to remove Parameshwar.

HUBBALLI: Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh clarified on Tuesday that the party would fight the next Assembly elections in Karnataka under the leadership of chief minister Siddaramaiah. But he said that the next chief minister would be elected by the party’s legislators.

Digvijay Singh said there were no differences within the party and clarified that there isw no move to remove Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president G Parameshwar from the post. "He will be the KPCC president till the conclusion of the Assembly elections in early 2018," he said.

The Congress gen sec attributed the party’s victories in the Nanjangud and Gundlupet byelections to the nity in the party. "If the Congress party fights united, there is no force which can stop the Congress coming back to power in the next Assemby Elections," he said.

He added that the Lingayaths, a dominant community in Karnataka, are with the Congress party and bypoll victories prove it.

Digvijay Singh added that he was aware that some party leaders were making open statements against the party. Action would be taken against them.
