KOCHI: Malayalam actor Dileep, an accused in the Malayalam actress abduction case, submitted before Kerala High Court today that he is not the kingpin of any criminal conspiracy.

Dileep told the court in his bail plea that he was an unfortunate victim of an orchestrated media campaign directed by the powerful sections of the Malayalam film industry.

The High Court will consider his bail plea on Friday.

When asked about Pulsar Suni, Dileep reiterated that he has never seen, met or talked to him who is the first accused in the case.

The bail petition alleged that Dileep is being targeted by a large scale conspiracy hatched by powerful sections of the Malayalam film industry and certain others, who could manage police, media, and political leaders to spread false information against him for months together.

This resulted in the petitioner being falsely implicated as the 11th accused in the case.

Dileep was booked about three months after the submission of the final report in the case. He was arrested on July 10th.

At the time of arrest, he was committed to several film projects, which include Rama Leela, Kummara Sambhavam and Professor Dinkon. He had accepted advance to act in a few other movies too. The budget of the pending movies together runs up to more than 50 crore rupees.

The continued detention of the petitioner will delay the shooting and release of these movies which will have a catastrophic impact on the lives of many people connected with it, the plea said.

He also submitted that the prosecution challenged the earlier bail petition on the grounds that Appunni, his manager, was absconding and that he should be interrogated thoroughly before Dileep could be released.

Today, the circumstances have changed as Appunni has appeared before the investigating agency and was questioned for several hours. The prosecution has also pointed out that the mobile phone used to film the assault and its memory card has not been recovered. For this, the investigating agency should interrogate Dileep, Advocate Pratheesh Chacko.
