KOCHI: Sunil Kumar aka Pulsar Suni, the key accused in actress assault case, on Monday filed a fresh bail petition before the Additional District and Sessions Court, Ernakulam. The court will consider the plea on August 17. It has also sent a notice to the Nedumbassery police, which recorded his arrest, asking if they have any objection in granting bail to Suni.

The petition is being moved on the ground the charge sheet had already been submitted against him and it may take a while before the court commences the trial proceedings in the case.It also stated the investigation team was yet to establish the case and gather any scientific or medical evidence to confirm Suni’s involvement in the case. The plea also said Suni had been denied the opportunity to give a statement under CrPC 164.

The Angamaly Judicial First Class Magistrate Court had earlier denied bail to Suni in the same case following strong objection from the prosecution, which pointed out the probe had not been completed.
He was also denied a bail by the Ernakulam Chief Judicial Magistrate in a case related to the alleged bid to abduct another actor in 2011.  Last week, the Judicial First Class Magistrate Court, Kakkanad, had granted conditional bail to Suni and three others over the alleged use of a mobile phone inside the Kakkanad District Prison.
