KOCHI: Launching a scathing attack on the Sangh Parivar and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress Working Committee member and former Union Defence Minister A K Antony has alleged Modi and the RSS were attempting to divide the country once again by instilling communal hatred among the people. “The RSS and the BJP seek the second partition of the country,” he said while inaugurating the birthday celebrations of Rajiv Gandhi organised by DCC here on Sunday.

“One of the BJP MPs has said in the Parliament the country was now in the hands of the RSS. They are spreading communal hatred among the people. In order to combat the communal forces, a ‘grand alliance of all Opposition parties at the Centre will be set up before the next Lok Sabha polls. Congress chief Sonia Gandhi will lead the alliance. The main objective of the alliance is to conserve secularism in the country.”

Antony alleged the Union Government was attempting to conceal the contributions of the Nehru family to the country. “During his address, the President of India Ramnath Kovind commemorated all leaders, except Jawaharlal Nehru. The Union Government’s efforts are to sideline even Mahatma Gandhi,” he said citing school textbooks in Rajasthan, where Mahatma Gandhi is portrayed as second behind RSS leader Deen Dayal Upadhyaya.

“The BJP government is attempting to construct a temple for Nathuram Godse, who assassinated Mahatma Gandhi and to redraft the Constitution,” he said. He said Rajiv Gandhi was instrumental in the digital revolution of the country. “Those who opposed computerisation and attempted to demolish computer when it was launched are now ministers at the Centre and State,” alleged Antony.
