DGP Jacob Thomas is at it again. This time, the state government and Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan have come in his line of fire.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: DGP Jacob Thomas is at it again. This time, the state government and Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan have come in his line of fire.At a public function at the Press Club, Thomas said there was a total breakdown of law and order in the state. Due to poor law and order, people are afraid to take a stand against corruption, he said. The senior IPS officer alleged corrupt elements were united and they were enjoying power in the state. “Anti-corruption crusaders are being rounded up and eliminated. Even if they are not hacked 51 times, they are being silenced.

“This is how terrorists work. It is when the administration fails that large-scale propaganda becomes necessary,” he said.Speaking about cyclone ‘Ockhi’, Thomas said no one has any idea as to how many fishermen were killed or how many were stranded at sea.

Accusing the administration of shirking its responsibility, he wondered whether the response would have been the same had the children of the rich ventured into the sea.Reminding the audience the people were the true rulers, the IPS officer said authorities who enjoy people’s trust can be with them at all times.  Thomas also criticised the way in which the `1,400 crore tsunami fund was used for rehabilitation.
