Kerala Law Academy hands over documents on principal Lekshmi Nair's removal to ADM

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kerala Law Academy management on Friday   handed over the minutes of the governing council meeting which removed principal  Lekshmi Nair from the post to Additional District Magistrate (ADM) John V Samuel.

The ADM told reporters that based on the  documents received he would give a report to the government, and said that the students would be convened for discussion only after examining the documents.

Meanwhile, the joint action council of students made it clear that it would not attend any more discussions with the ADM. They demanded the Education Minister to convene the meeting. Students belonging to KSU, ABVP, AISF and MSF are in the action council.

V Muraldiharan moves court 

BJP national executive member V Muralidharan  along with three others moved the Thiruvananthapruam subcourt seeking removal of 21 Trustees of Kerala Law Academy (Board of Trustees) and appoint a receiver for the proper management of the Academy.

The prayer has been admitted in file and posted for February 10. The 21-member trustees as respondents, include director N Narayanan Nair, principal Lekshmi Nair, Ajay Krishnan, N K Jayakumar, Ayyappan Pillai, Ajith Krishnan and others. 

Muralidharan told ‘Express’ their prayer include proper auditing of the accounts of the Academy since its inception and proper arrangement for administration of the trust. 

Stir enters 24th day 

The students’ stir in front of the Law Academy entered the 24th day. While the fast launched by K Muralidharan MLA entered the second day and BJP state secretary V V Rajesh’s fast entered the third day. The joint action council has decided to intensify the stir. 

Syndicate meeting on Monday 

The Kerala University has decided to hold an urgent meeting of the syndicate on Monday in view of the Education Minister’s decision to return the sub-committee report seeking action.

Muralidharan to  be discharged 

The health of BJP leader V Muralidharan who observed fast for over eight days is improving and he will be discharged on Saturday evening. He said he has not yet started eating solid food. 

Vava’s injuries serious

The condition of BJP state vice-president V V Vava who sustained injury on the left eye in the police clash is serious. According to hospital authorities, the sight of the left eye is almost lost. It was during the clash between the BJP workers and police, Vava was seriously injured in the grenade attack at the strike venue of Muralidharan.
