Invite to all green, no gold Kerala wedding grabs attention

THRISSUR: The marriage between Irish (27) and Hita (22) will have no religious ceremonies, no gold, no dowry and no food will be served. Everyone attending the wedding will get a sapling as a gift. Irish and Hita are planning to plant a tree during their wedding and that will be the only ceremony.

A Facebook post by the Irish invites everyone for the wedding at Kunnumel Veedu at Perambra, Calicut on February 19, 3 pm. 

Irish, a native of Kanjahad,  is an active member of Green Ways, an environment community which plants trees and fights against deforestation. He met Hita’s father Asokan, an organic farmer from Perambra in an environmental program. Through Asokan, he met Hita. 

“The marriage was fixed 3 months ago and it is not a love marriage. It is an arranged marriage. When we found common ground in our life we discussed with our family members” Irish said.

Irish posted his marriage invitation on Facebook on January 5th. Hita is an Ayurvedic doctor by profession.
