KANNUR: The family of RSS leader Choorakkad Biju who was murdered last week near Payyannur, has demanded a CBI inquiry.

The family members conveyed their demand to BJP leader and Union Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Rajiv Pratap Rudy, who visited the slain leader’s house at Ramanthali on Wednesday.

The family members told the minister and other BJP leaders who accompanied him they had lost faith in the state police and only a CBI probe would bring the culprits before law.

The minister promised to consider the demand and convey the matter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “It is the job of the state to protect people. We are deeply anguished. Action has to be taken on such gruesome and brutal killings which are taking place here,” the Union Minister told reporters after visiting the family members.

Biju, an RSS Mandal Karyavahak, was hacked to death by a gang at Palakode in Ramanthali panchayat near Payyannur on Friday. According to the police, Biju and his friend Rajesh, were travelling on a motor cycle when they were knocked down by an Innova car.

A gang alighted from the car and hacked Biju on his neck. The police have registered a case and arrested two CPM workers so far in connection with the murder.
