KOZHIKODE:The UDF on Thursday decided to stand united in its fight against the LDF government’s ploy to tarnish the image of senior Congress leaders in the name of the Solar Commission report.

“It is for the first time a Chief Minister conducted a press conference to brief the findings of a report. This itself shows they are using the Commission report for political mileage. By targeting the UDF, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan is helping the BJP to grow in the state,”  said Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala after the UDF convention attended by leaders from six districts here. The convention discussed the outcome of Vengara byelection, Solar Commission report and reviewed the preparations for UDF’s state rally against the policies of the Union and state governments.

Calling both Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and senior CPM leader Prakash Karat as the ‘B  team’ of the BJP, Chennithala said the UDF will flight the Solar Commission report politically and legally. “The government is in a confused state after conducting a hurried press conference on the report. They couldn’t issue a government order on formation of the Special Investigation Team. The UDF will fight the report politically and legally,” he said.

On Vengara bypoll result, Chennithala said the victory of the UDF was a befitting reply to the state government’s anti-people policies.“It’s a fact the secular people of Kerala will not fall prey to the tricks of the BJP led by Narendra Modi and Amit Shah. The bypoll result reveals that only secular forces will emerge victorious in Kerala,” he said. Chennithala said the UDF had always stood against the RSS and organisations like the SDPI and PFI.

“Both the RSS and the PFI are two sides of the same coin. We have been fighting them politically. We are not worried about the votes which the SDPI got in bypolls as there is a fixed number of votes which the SDPI gets in every election,” he said.

Cong PAC meet on Saturday

T’Puram: Stumped by the LDF Government with move to slap a Vigilance probe and rape charges based on the Solar Commission report against former Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and other  Congress leaders including former ministers, though further steps have not made much headway, the party is organising a crucial meeting of  the Political Affairs Committee (PAC) on October 21. The meeting will commence at 10 am on Saturday in the KPCC headquarters, said president M M Hassan.
